Education & Training
The Education and Training division provides education services through preschools, schools, technical colleges, training centres and universities. These education providers may be publicly or privately owned and operated. Childcare services, animal training and student accommodation services are excluded from the division.
The Education and Training division has undergone significant reform over the past five years. This has included the introduction of a demand-driven system for tertiary education, a new school funding model and policy initiatives aimed at increasing access to preschool education. While higher domestic demand for education and training is primarily attributable to population growth, the division has expanded at a faster rate than the population over the past five years. This is due to increased government funding and enrolment shifts towards more expensive providers in secondary and tertiary education.
